WARNER CHAPPELL PM CRIME SONICS Solitary WindsThe Highway of Tears was first defined by the families of indigenous victims in the late '90s. It's a stretch of Highway 16 from Prince Rupert to Prince George, where over 40 women and girls have either gone missing or been murdered, and many of those cases are still unsolved. As cold as the Highway itself, the 10 somber cues of Solitary Winds, sadly capture the very essence of these untold stories. As a lover of ambient music, composer Emmaline Sanders wanted this album to carry listeners into a somber headspace and the repeating strains of oboe are meant to evoke a sense of longing for resolution that, as with an unsolved mystery, may never come. |
